I'm trying to figure out what to do with these stamps. I have 4 more pages of Papua & New Guinea stamps. Hopefully I'll post them this weekend.

I'd like to know what they are called; if they have any value & what sort of catalogue value they have, if any.

Thank you KGV.

They're called Lakatoi's. The boat is a native boat called, funnily enough, a Lakatoi.

There's a number of printings, paper, perfs and varieties, If you want to email the pics to me, I can send them to an expert I know

Or, you can send them to me and I'll just keep them. Then you won't have to worry about all those varieties and such!

Jubilee: Thanks for your very kind offer! I will e~mail the images. Is there any scans other than the first 2 that are worth e~mailing as well. Thanks again. KGV.

I have some gaps to fill in the KGV era, but I haven't looked at Lakatois. I have a friend who wind medals with his, so I'll ask him to take a look. That's assuming KGV wants to part with them though!

Yes, we are looking at selling. We are trying to find out how to describe the stamps before contacting our 2 favourite auctions to sell at. They become very offended if they are sent rubbish. All of this is about our credibility & getting the best price we can.

With the response it looks like we are possibly on to something. Always have an open mind. Obviously the original collector was an overprint freak. KGV

Some of these stamps seem to have a high retail value, more when used. The 1s Lakatoi with the red airmail plane overprint, 2 together, the 2nd one that is used could be the rarer darker red overprint, nice that it is used. KGV
