Harry it must be great to fill those early spaces..i have a U.S. Scott #90..catalog says $400 but the cancel is so heavy it looks like Washington is peeking through a knot hole..i asked a couple of knowledgeable U.S. collectors what I could expect to get with that heavy a cancel and they both thought in the 15 dollar range..so I put it in my album..at least I can say I have a #90 !!

Phil I have a #97 that fills the same hole as a #90 but it has the perfs cut/trimmed left hand side, the #72 has a light S.O.N.the #30A has 4 light bars and the #35 has a light red cancellation on the left side, when there in my hand I'll post a few photos.

CONGRATS !
Thats not all that bad of a #1 for starters !
The first one I ever got wasn't near as good as that one.
I gave it to a buddy after years of finally getting several good copys of it as well as several good #2s.
Time & paitience is the name of the game.
I always figured even a space fillers better than a blank space.
Eventually you're upgrade as well.

A #261, great !
#261 through #263 are out there, most are over priced but can be bought at decent prices.
