Hi,
Peter MacDonald here from Ottawa, Canada. I've been lurking for a while, and posted a half-dozen times over the past month. David Giles is VP of my local club, and suggested this forum to me at some point.
I collect Canada - Elizabethan Definitives, Christmas and Scott #610. I also collect Vatican City and over the past two years, I have been dabbling in postal history, mostly to support my Christmas habit, but have found slogan cancels to be very interesting. A recent diversion has been a search for postal history postmarked on my birthday, September 29, in each of the years since and including 1965. The item(s) must have a current definitives paying the proper rate. It's a far greater challenges than I imagined!
I'm a member of the British North America Philatelic Society (BNAPS), The Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC), the Vatican Philatelic Society (VPS) and my local stamp club, the Ottawa Philatelic Society. I am on the committee for our local, National-Level philatelic exhibition, ORAPEX, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2011.
Professionally, I am an arts administrator, and still hold my license as a commercial and industrial electrician, from 17 years of active work in the field and in project management.
I have a wonderfully (stamp-)tolerant wife and two amazing young children. The eldest has recently taken to butterfly stamps. I'm not convinced that she'll be gluing them into her book by the time she hits the grand old age of five.
Peter

Glad to have you aboard, Peter. I too was born in 1965. I attempted a 1965 collection & calendar collection, but went about it the wrong way... I may try again.
Fellow SCFer's: Peter has done an excellent job of introducing stamp collecting to his children.

Hi Peter, welcome! Ah, the #610, the Krieghoff painting. Very nice Christmas scene. Wish I had it in a nice log house hanging in the study by a fireplace. Wish I had a fireplace some days in the winter! |

BeeSee, I've long been a fan of your web site. Your "Presenting Cards" section has helped me to figure out what I'm missing from that other area of interest: ephemera and collateral materials! Again, I try to limit myself to definitive and Christmas-related items even there. |

Thanks for the warm welcome. At my rate of posting, it'll be a very long time before I participate in any trading, selling or buying here, but I'll be around as time permits.
