GB Explanation Of Cylinder Terms

I have started to wade in a little into the world of GB cylinder groups of 6 but the terminology is confusing to me.

In particular, terms like "dot" or "No dot" or "2 dot". There also seems to be multiple type of cylinder panes that are collected, some with date and some without.

I have not been able to find a dictionary of GB terms here and would appreciate some linguistic help here.

For the search engine spiders, I thought I'd post a few images.

First, this is a 2˝d blue with the cylinder number below the control number. In this case, the cylinder number is 8 (dot)





Second, this a 3d purple, with the cylinder number 14 (no dot)





I'll try to post some more when I have time!
