For years, I've been looking at these bi-colored engraved stamps with all the beautiful scenery and drooling, but I've never taken the plunge and started a collection. Thanks to giraffestamps (Nyassa and Mozambique company) and a couple of other folks (stamps from Fiji, Ceylon, Falkland Islands, etc...) on here that have posted pictures, I've decided now is the time. The problem here is I have no idea what I'm doing... what countries and time periods are included in this? I know that this isn't just strictly British Commonwealth, but that's about the limit of my knowledge.

Nobody else collects this stuff? I find that kind of hard to believe...

I really like those bi-colored engraved stamps. I have some KGVI from the Gilbert and Ellice Islands - it seems that most of the Commonwealth countries issued similar sets. Many of the same designs were use for the first Elizabethan issues too. That would make a nice collection, getting them all. |

Does canada have any? I know we had the 3 stamp Royal Visit stamps that were one colour and black, not two different colours really. They seemed to be within a certain time period for British Commonwealth, KGV or KGVI I think. For other countries like Latin America I am not sure. |

I was thinking of listing some KGVI Commonwealth extras for sale, so I might dig them out |

The 1939 Royal Visit set of three stamps were the first bi-coloured stamps issued by Canada.

The Falklands set is SG 127-138, £3250 mint and £4750 used.
For my money, the George VI definitives are much nicer. Not so fussy - and only £425 mint ... |
