Here is an example of Scott 1033a, the 2¢ Jefferson on experimental Silkote paper, plate number 25061 (from the
American Plate Number Single Society). This very bright, experimental Silkote paper was used on a printing of just 5000 panes. These were delivered during Christmas 1954 to a small number of post offices in Maine. Only plates 25061 and 25062 were used to print #1033a, and these plates were also used to print #1033 on normal paper as well. It would have been better for collectors if this experiment was done with special plates. The 2008 catalog value for a plate block of #1033a is $2750. (professionally certified) and $0.25 for a plate block of #1033.
