Nice to have a namesake ship in the fleet!

What does the DD-875 signify? Some sort of ship identity code?

DD = Designation Destroyer.
During the Vietnam conflict, I served on a DDG

Is there a source for a full listing of those designations?

Wow. That's a lot of ship types. I had no inkling that there were that many different types of vessels in the US Navy (or any navy, really!)

Nice cover. Now you have to find a cover from the U.S.S. O'Brien that sunk during WWII.
