Hi to all !

Greetings from a stamp collecting enthusiast from Mumbai, India.
Joined this forum recently and found extremely useful information here.
My main interests are British India and Cochin. Hope to learn more about the stamps from the well informed veterans around here.

Hi tholath, welcome officially to the forum!

The threads by member spock1k usually entitled something george or george something have British India, KGV and KGVI. Just search for george or under spock1k's user name.

I haven't seen and QV yet except the few I posted on an old album page to see what was what about them as I am not expert. I have them soaked off now and flattened out and need to research them a bit I feel.

It is fascinating that there are loads (seemingly) of fake cancels and forged stamps out of India but I would think that is because of collector demand over the years. I have led a sheltered life !

As for Indian stamps, it is true that there are a lot of varieties - British India (Queens and Kings series), Portuguese India, Feudatory states, Convention states... and so on.... giving collectors an opportunity to select their domain. Maybe, who knows after sometime one may find Indian stamps in US opr H1B and used locally
Anyway, nothing like this hobby for the knowledge and experience and the opportunity to study more... and the frustration when the stamp you thought was a gem turns out to be a 10p one...

So don't grow old OR get puzzled BUT bring out the nuggets....

Sorry for the delay in responding - you must have heard about the "bandh" in India. In fact there were no 'bus' or taxi or autos..
And I was in Rajasthan - during this period - and for a purpose - my friend's son is getting married and they have to compulsorily conduct the marriage in their village. So my friend and I went there and among other arrangements to be settled - like catering, decoration etc.. we also went to arrange for a horse (the bridegroom has to travel on a horse on the way to the marriage venue - traditional) and you won't believe this (please - I am not joking - I have proof - a small video taken) - we booked a "dancing horse" - and the cost - 500USD - the guy (I mean the horse ) seemed to enjoy - we were shown a demo - and freaked out with his steps along with the music....
