My stamping today was dismal, I don't know if it is just me but lately a lot of the stamps I have been purchasing have had foxing on them and or tone spots - I just wish sellers would mention this.

While sorting a cheap South West Africa lot I purchased , still grumpy at the previous 5 lots that have been dissappointing, I find this :

A 1 shilling pair from the war effort.

What so special about this ?? look at the top stamp, notice the specks between the word postage and the tank - Its a very well known (now all of you know) variety called "Bursting Shell" SG 130d cat £32 and the South African set without overprint is 104a cat at £75.00

Nothing is going to get me down today !

I will be blowing it tonight when South Africa take on Uruguay. Come on Bafana Bafana !!

Back to the stamps -- the varieties on the small war effort are easy to miss because the stamps are so small. There is another one on the 1 shilling called Smoking L which has a few "smoking rings" coming off the L.

========<() Vuvuzela! :)

Ok one mistake from the top post --- it is not 104a (that is the South African Equivalent) it is SG 130d - cat value drops to £32 but still a nice find.
