I have always wanted to start a perfin collection but time/effort/money has always halted me. I thought I would share these lovely perfin blocks. Any perfin collectors out there ?

ILEA - Inner London Education Authority. Sorry but thats all I know about these.

1/2p - Block of 50 - Front

Back of a second sheet - I love the misalignment of the perf holes on the bottom rows

5p - Block of 15

10p - Block of 24

Wow. I'll give you this...they have some visual impact.

I've probably showed this old thing all over here before, but it sort of fits the topic...

We should perfin SC (Stamp community) into some stamps and post them to each other

That's a corny idea...I like it.

so, how, exactly, would we go about doing it?

I recall reading a USPS regulation delimiting how much of a stamp's area I can deface. It would have to be small...(a half-inch square sticks in my mind, but I'd have to check).

C.

I wonder what the regulation is in the UK, maybe attach the pins to a punch the S on one and the C on the other - would take a while, and there would be many collectible varieties :)

ILEA Uk's 2nd most common perfin
first would be PAC Prudential Assurance Corp
and third GLC Greater London Council.

Douglas Myall, the author of the Deegam Handbook on Machin stamps, is also a perfin authority and collector. When I bought the CD version of his Machin catalogue, it came posted with privately perforated Machin definitives. His handbook states that there aren't many regulations in the UK regarding the perfin. Only initials may be used, no complete names or trademarks are allowed. Also, the perfin holes must be no larger than the holes used to perforate / divide the stamps on the sheet. There's no need to register a private perfin with any postal authority or anything like that. So, perforate away!

I guess this fits the topic too.
From the Young Upstarts Cover Kings Club.
I heard this one is quite scarce, as the perfinator broke down after only three attempts !

Londonbus1....and I have one copy !

I was wondering where you were...

I hope you didn't pay too much for that YucK perfin, as it is a clear forgery. Legitimate copies have a nine-perf "c".

Of course not. Stampstudy more or less begged me to take it whilst I was in London recently. He hates forgeries.

Here is the real one, which cost a bit more.

I also found the same perfin [Young Upstarts Cover Kings] inverted which I'm told is hugely scarce. Less than one copy exists !

If I see one in London on my next trip, I'll think of you.

Londonbus1...and if I don't, I won't !
