I'm still working on basic skills in terms of ID. Finally (thanks Stampvirgin!) got a handle, on imperforated (imperf.)

So, now I'm just double checking that these are actually coils, not immperf.

And while I'm asking, the Springfield are precancel?

Thanks

Yes your right on both accounts,I could be wrong but the coils look like Scott #597 and the pre-cancel stamps are #597-61.

Now I'm confused (again / still?) The numbers you list are very different from mine. Why's that?
I'm trying to ID an old album, which seems to be in fairly good Scotts numerical order, and I see (1923-29) 839 A276

The Scott #597 A155 coil is a perf 10 1923-1929 rotary press coil stamp,a A276 is a Scott #804 are you sure your using a Scott related album.

Could you be mis-reading something?

US stamps design A276 is the 1 Cent Washington issue of the 1938 Prexie series and that's very different from these Franklins.

These Franklins are design A155 and the only coils that I see (ignoring the pre-cancels) with vertical perfs is Sc 597. Same view as Nuggethill.

(Vertical perf'ed coils are coils in which the perfs run vertically, on the side rather than bottom and top.)

Does this help?

-Larry
