Hello All,
I was wondering if there was anyone here that would know about old, foreign paper money? Maybe you could direct me to a forum that would know?
I came across some paper money in an old photo album. It was being thrown out. I took it in and was really surprised when I saw it was filled with photo's of WWII. Who ever the album belonged to or whoever the photographer was had pictures in black and white of Italy, Tripoli, I think Morraco, and Liberia. In one of the pages I found paper money that was taped in the album.
Some of the money was actually Military Payment Certificates in denominations of .25, .10, and .05 The rest of it was from the countries that I mentioned.
I would love to do some research on them before I decide what to do with them.

Donna, I once came across some paper money.. German 100 mark, and French 100 franc notes, both were dated in the WWII era. Was really neat.. I went to my local coin store of all places.. you might want to find your local coin dealer and call him/her to inquire whether or not they know about foreign currency.. |

G'Day Donna If you look to your left you will see a box with coin forum it's below navigation and above unanswered topics click on this and it will take you to the coin forum where they can answer your questions. That find is very interesting and it would have been history lost It's good to know you rescued it . regards Harry |

Stamp Virgin, I'm looking around for a local coin dealer and just like stamp dealers, there's not many around. I'm still researching though.
Harry, Thanks for the redirect. I will be signing up with them tomorrow.
Rod-I knew as soon as I posted this someone would ask to post the pics. Sorry, I don't have a scanner, but I'll hold it up against my monitor for you to see..lol

Good on ya Donna it shouldn't take to long to get an answer. You will find a thread on detecting finds called Aussie Gold Finds on that coin site, take a look when you get a bit of time you may find it interesting. |

Harry, you sly dog! I peeked in on the thread on the coin forum you mentioned. You've got enough gold there to cap a couple of people's teeth! That was a great find. Here in the good old U.S. of A. there is a smattering of gold surveyor's in the mid-west I believe. There was a story of a family I think that actually came across a nugget that was enough to set them pretty for the rest of their lives. It was during one of the times that gold was at it's highest selling point. Lucky family!

Rod,
the moon is a crater in the midwest. I can hardly imagine shadows fgoig in reverse or the flag flying on the moon :)
