Are there certain times of the year that where stamp trading is most active around here? I would think winter time, no? (I remember pouring over stamps near the fireplace with the old man during cold Alberta evenings!).

It's only summer in the Northern Hemisphere... Right now, I'm enjoying stamps during my indoors time. Summer is finally upon us here in the Pacific Northwest, which has me out on the bicycle or fishing for trout. Still, after a long day in the sun, or even when looking for a break, the stamps are there -- and require no sun block. |

I'd say right now is the best time every day!
I think you're right Tom and there is some basis for saying the summer is slower - what with mowing, fishing, weed-eating, mowing, trimming, flower beds, mowing, etc.
Did I mention mowing? |

Action in the stamp market is most intense during the colder months in the northern hemisphere. That being said, the best deals to be had may be when there is less market pressure. I think the economist in me is coming out. Perhaps I should create a seasonal supply/demand curve for stamps and set it to music. |

I used to think the slowest time was summer. Then, I realized that I've got a lot more energy during the summer, tend to stay up later, after the bugs have invaded the patio, then move inside to work on my collections. I think I might actually do much more now than during the colder months. Go figger.

I find I have very little if any time for stamps in the summer. I am way behind in my trades and have to try to find a little time. Dianne |

Since I am in Canada I will look forward to winter as being a busy trading time. Traditionally such time free from fishing and lawn cutting was meant for making babies but instead we squint over countless bits of colored paper. |

I heard the sun never sets in Canada in the summer! Bad for vampires but good for people who don't need much sleep! |

Oh, there are plenty of blood-suckers around but hey pretty much stay in Ottawa. As far as the sun never setting, as far as this being part of the British Empire that may be true. I wouldn't know cause I rarely leave my igloo. |

Thanks Tom H! A very interesting thread for us here. It gives us an insight on the habits of people from outside Australia! John and Family |

for auctions anytime but the summer seems OK ---for private trading I don't see any distinction among the seasons |
