OK, I'm wondering if anyone has put together a Scanned website of the pages of Scotts International Vol I, with stamps...
there are some countries that are giving me fits on where certain series go, like Norway, and Italy. I'm sure there will be more.
I'm finding it take me more time to find the spot in the album then it does to identify the stamp. I wish they put Scott's # in all the spaces.
(am I too lazy) Ed

Yes, there is a very good one. I think I have it bookmarked somewhere, but it may take some time to find that bookmark. It's actually quite a massive collection. Of course, it's NOT mine. Quote: I'm finding it take me more time to find the spot in the album then it does to identify the stamp. I wish they put Scott's # in all the spaces. Trust me, you don't. There have been a non-trivial amount of Scott catalog number changes in the classic era. If Scott never changed their catalog numbers, it would not be a problem. It's an annoying problem, that you will run into with a lot of album pages. The Scott Specialty albums and the Scott Grand Master Award albums do have the Scott numbers written. Since those were printed much later in time, Scott number changes are minimal. I agree it is difficult because the Scott Internationals are far from being 100% illustrated, and some of the descriptions are really too primitive. Then add on the fact that even some common stamps don't have spaces. This is why for decades I used stockbooks/stockpages instead of album pages. It saves a lot of time. I simply keep a couple of semi-filled Scott Internationals I-III for quick reference. However, I have never scanned the pages. Too time consuming. |

Well since my original posting I have noticed a subtle flow to the Scotts book
however you still need to get a few anchor stamp in correctly, and there are still the trouble makers that I'm afraid to stick in I'm always afraid I wont be able to get the hinge off no matter how lighlty I dampin it.
but that site is quite amazing, quite well setup too! he could donate the site to the museum. I may have to download the pictures and compress them into one adobe PDF, so I have a reference manual.. (anyone done that save me a few weeks of work?) Ed |

1840to1940: I was just about to post the link to Antonius Ra's collection, and then I scrolled down and saw your link. His real name is Mitchell, is a very nice guy, and participates in the ebay Stamp Chat board, in case you have any questions. His handle there is -- surprise -- "Antonius Ra". -- Dave |

Hi Dave, I sniffed out your message, thanks for the nice words! That guy on the other board (you know the one) has stated that Dr Chang sold most of his collection through Harmers a few years ago. That does not seem to mesh with the intro on his main page. Or the recent updates. He is saying that someone has posted info on a board somewhere today but I'm not sure where that might be. Just doing some more sniffing, if anyone knows please direct me to the page.

Welcome to Stamp Community Forum, Mitchell! Quote: That guy on the other board (you know the one) has stated that Dr Chang sold most of his collection through Harmers a few years ago. I recall that Harmer's did sell a very large WW collection that belonged to an Asian, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't his. I don't remember who it had belonged to. Kim |

Are we talking about Dr. Hsien-ming Meng's stamp collection that was auctioned by H R Harmer as part of its Sale 194: Collections of the World (October 10-11, 2008). Dr. Meng's collection formed the nucleus of the image-scanning project for the Scott Catalogs. According to a PR release, Dr. Meng had accumulated a collection of more than 250,000 different in more than 400 albums.
Please review the rules. |

Hi Guys and thanks for the welcome! Also thanks much for clearing up that question I had. "That guy" is a constant wealth of misinformation. Unfortunately he never backs down and I fear some are mislead. 10 years in the troll business and going strong. Anyway I saw this page on my tracker going to my site so I thought I'd have a look. Seems to be a lot of good threads so I thought I'd join in. 1840-1940 if you are who I think you are you posted a link to my site from yours quite awhile back. I wanted to respond with thanks but I could not figure how to email you. At any rate the URL's have changed as my service provider dumped the old accounts like mine without a care in the world. the new links are here if you want to update them. http://mitch.seymourfamily.com/mwar...apindex.htmlhttp://mitch.seymourfamily.com/mwar...ndexa-z.htmlHappy Stampin |

Don't be doin that it's just a collection that I'm obsessed with. There are plenty of people out there with single stamps that are worth more than my entire collection. It is all relative. The main thing is do you love your collection? That's all that matters. |
