I would love to see the stamp if you could show it from raising the flag in 1945 at Iwo Jima--also what year was the stamp created?

Thanks so much!

I looked on ebay and saw two together FDC's that I'm watching with that stamp.

Thanks!
Gussyboy1
IS there a catalogue that outlines what an average price would be for FDC's?

Gussey....

Look for the Mellone handbooks for FDC's published by Amos Press. They run about $10.00 +shipping....If you get Linn's Stamp News you can get a discount.

Gussy, If that makes you teary eyed, you should try listening to Johnny Cash's song "The Ballad of Ira Hayes".

Yes, Steve, the tears did flow with that Jonnny Cash song--so sad how some of our veterans have been treated! My dad earned two purple hearts--one in the Korean conflict and another in WWII. A bullet shattered his rt leg and he spent 1 year in the hospital with that--infection had set in, etc. He was always a quiet guy about his purple hearts, but he sure had some stories to tell about battles and the sadness he saw. Everytime I see a license plate that says Veteran on it or POW, etc I want to stop traffic and get out to shake their hand, but sometimes it's their wife driving! ha

WE LOVE OUR VETS AND SERVICEMEN!

How about this one from 1995 -- Scott 2981a, from the WWII series.

I don't either, Dianne, that's a stock picture.

I want that one though, because of the flag. (I collect stamps with American flags on them.) And I don't want the whole pane, just that one, so it's sometimes difficult. But I will perisist....
