If you go to
http://pfsearch.org/pfsearch/ you can access the database of the Philatelic Foundation. The website permits you to do searches for stamps by Scott number, country, year etc.
Each result comes with a scan and a statement about its authenticity. Some are genuine and some are fake. Very interesting, especially the fakes.
Want to see what 634a looks like? Well you'll get 17 pages of them. And, easy to compare to 634.
Does seem as though US issues predominate.
