Assuming a gum crease is original to the stamp, not added as a hinge or regumming; how much does it affect value. I am specifically refering to #242. I am new here so please bare with me.

That is a good read, thank you. I am suprised that a original gum crease devalues a stamp so much. According to the Sweedishtiger a MNH #242 sells on ebay for$1450-$2850; a gun creased #242 is now selling on ebay as a buy it now for $900. ebay is sure a bit of a crap shoot isn't it.

That's because it's a wide array of people who know what they are doing, people who don't know what they are doing, and people who aren't sure. Sometimes you can get good material at a bargain price, and sometimes you can end up paying good money for junk. It also depends on who's on and who's sleeping, or just two crazy bidders trying to come out on top.
