Hi all,
I have a stamp booklet holder which is machine tooled and has Crown ER May 12. 1937 engraved at bottom right. Interesting because that is the date of the Coronation of George 6th, not Edward VIII, who was not in fact crowned.
Does anyone know anything about this which may shed light on the background, maker or the inscription.
Cheers
Ron

I don't know who the maker was, but I do know that the coronation of Edward VIII was scheduled for 12th May 1937. That explains the engraving on the bottom right hand corner - an early Edward VIII coronation souvenir.
There's heaps of interesting stuff about projected Edward VIII stamps, and possible George VI stamps on the British Postal Museum site:

The design of that stamp booklet holder was quite common at that time. There are several examples on ebay and other auction sites:

Hello and thanks for that.
You have explained the date for me and
I checked out the heritage site and also that ebay one which showed the winning bid at 2.99 - not bad for that.
I have a Coronation mug for that date though it was a bit of a cheat as I was actually born on the 11th May

Cheers
Ron
