Note the danger of plastic is the static that can result causes stamps to sometimes jump off the page and become lost or damaged.

That's also how Priate Philly lost his eye, arggh!!

Ratio: I don't mean to give you a hard time about how you take care of your dad's collection or criticize how you spend money on the collection. Some people really find enjoyment in the presentation of the stamps and knowing that they are safely stored. I could probably use some help on the organization side of things myself.

Glad you are enjoying the collection!

The page protectors you are talking about are an issue of personal preference. As others have said, they add absolutely nothing to stamp conservation since the stamps are already in mounts (not hinged).

So go for what looks good - at the extra expense.....

My line of thought is like Scouter posted...
The page protectors take a lack-luster Mystic page to a bit nicer level,
and they keep the pages from pulling out. (Mystic pages don't have any
reinforcing around the binder holes like some of the fancy album pages
I have seen.) The page holes damage very easily. Also, the covers I have
been using fit the Mystic pages absolutely perfectly, no gap, no fold.

It sounds as though they can't really hurt anything, and seeing them
make improvements on the album pages themselves, I am going to continue
installing them a few at a time on pages that are either DONE all the way,
or pages that I don't expect to fill any holes on anytime soon.

Thanks for the input folks!
Gaff, I don't mind someone speaking their opinion loud and proud. I do!
I don't take it personal.
Dave

Now I understand you're point of view. If Mystic pages holes break easily it's a different story. Also I tought when you have plastic if you're going thru you're album while eating or drinking a coffee, it's is a good extra protection. I woudn't want spill coffee on a page. Never happen to me but maybe one of us. I like you're good attitude ratio.
