I was always attracted as a kid of those dune state stamps because of the nice designs. I still have some paintings stamps from those states and enjoy to look at them. But, as I'm not collecting this topic and need a bit of space for some other stamps, I'll probably try to sell them. Most probably here when I'll have 50 posts... (which still will not occur so quickly... as I'm more an observer).

I'll certainly bid on them :)

and looking for the more scarce issues.

I still fail to understand why people think CTOs are so bad. There are somecountries which are easier to find CTO's from than real postage used.
I've got very few real used East German stamps. Most of mine are MNH or CTO. It seems like it's the same way with the stamps from the countries in the
Arabian Gulf. These days, I see more culturally relevant stamps being issued than before (Why would Ajman issue a stamp with Mozart? Why did Oman issue a stamp with Yaks on them- they certainly aren't an indigenous species here!)

I think the only mistake one may make,
is to judge Oman by the labels produced
by someone, or some entity, not with the interests
of Oman at heart.
Perhaps we should judge the perpetrator, not the country.

edited to soften tone.

I have to agree with you, Rod. Alot of times the powers that be in government or wherever decide on
things like stamp topics. The people have nothing to do with it. Still, I like my CTO's. It's hard to find
non-CTO stamps from before 1990 from this part of the world. Also, try to find used stamps from the former Soviet bloc countries and you see what I mean.

Well then, I empathise with your self inflicted
desire
A noble cause but consider the facts....

Non CTO stamps are poor cousins to "on cover" examples,
you will have to establish they are genuine and not forged,
and if they be the genuine article, you will be bidding
against powerful dollars from Saudi collectors.

Not a great scenario, for mine.

Back to my labels...

I feel your pain! ehehehe. Almost (99% actually) of the material in my collection from the Arabian Gulf countries
is CTO. On the bright side, yesterday I noticed that there are some Omani banks and businesses which continue to
use stamps on their mail. I've already hit up some colleagues for the envelopes from their banks!
