These came to me in a lot of Dominican Back of Book, though not sure why these are BOB, unless there was a surcharge to raise money for clean-up from the hurricane, etc. Thoughts?

There were issued to raise awareness of the devastation from the 5th deadliest Atlantic Hurricane on record (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1930_D..._hurricane).

I remembered that somebody here likes Red Cross stamps, so decided to share.

The "imperforate" stamp looks like somebody got at it with a pair of scissors. I don't have the Scott volume to read if it was issued this way or not?

Here's a site for anyone interested in Hurricanes, Typhoons and Tropical Cyclones:

http://rammb.cira.colostate.edu/dev...urricane.htm

According to the SG Simplified catalogue, there was an original set in 1930 (the one you have), followed by an overprinted set (1931) as shown on the above list (which came perf or imperf).
