I love postal history documents. At first blush, it would be challenging, without knowing ahead of time, to tell that this document came from Australia (and not, say, the United States). After close examination, I found some wording that would definitely not appear in a document from the US. It is a refrence to "Treasury Department Circular No. 530." We do not refer to our laws as "circulars." Thanks for sharing, Rod.

Yep, smauggie, the only time you see these sorts of things are in
stamp exhibits.

The thing that makes me want to rainbow sneeze,
is the word DEFENSE! What the!

Rodney, I doubt this was from Australia - unless it was anticipating decimalisation by something over 20 years ... Canadian perhaps?

Canadian/Newfoundland would be my guess, from the spelling 'Defense' and the use of the middle initials in the names - 'Mary A. Jones' etc.
