Received your Cinderella Marc! (and other tasty morsels)

Your "Bowl of Hygieia"

Hygieia=health, hygiene (Hygieia = goddess of sanitation)

Hygieia was the daughter of the God of Medicine = Aesculapius

Shown here by the rod and the single snake

Two great scans! thanks Guys.
Boy! did the NZ stamp cause some controversy at the time.
They said something like she was a siren of Bacchus

Personally I think it is a magnificent stamp,
beautifully balanced, a real pleasure to look at
without the obvious reference to the lass.
Bravo to the Kiwis for passing approval.

Tony the vignette doesn't appear too dark,
just an appraisal with stethoscope

Not sure I like the look of the bloke wielding the stethoscope, though, Rod.

Therein lies the beauty of hand carved woodblocks.
The Doc looks like he could do the moonwalk,
and the patient, well he's from a planet
out near Spock's place.

Speaking of woodblocks,
here is a famous woodblock that received ridicule
in its time.

It is usually understood woodblocks were carved from
the end-grain of box wood, but this fellow is one big
lump of timber.

There is one wood that does not warp with moisture
but I cannot recall it at this time. Mahogany.
