selling stamps

"4 - Confederate Stamps (used/mint) no gum
The stamp(s) shown are the actual stamps being auctioned
Found these in a collection, some could be mint / others used.
I don't know if these are real or facimiles, you be the judge."

the description, to me, is bogus.. how could a lifetime member not do the research on these stamps?

All it takes is money to become a lifetime member of any group is a lump-sum payment. I think that he is being honest in saying he doesn't know what he has, and will accept a certain bid for them. If there is interest, people can buy it at their own risk.

At the going price of $1.04, they would be fun facsimiles to have, if I had any interest in CSA stamps.

I have loads of facsimiles of these, and they don't look anything like as good as these on Stampwants/Bidstart.

Doesn't help much but just making a comparison.

Londonbus1...usually unhelpful !

lb1 you are too funny..

I have #6, having rescued it out of the old books I got last weekend.. (the paper was still on the back so the tape never bled through)
But the stamps on his site look real to me. with his statement it might turn others off from bidding.

It seems to me that quite a few online sellers take a minimalist approach with their descriptions, but that may be intentional.

In the case you present SV, had you been dissatisfied with your purchase, you certainly couldn't claim that the seller was misleading in his presentation.

Another "tactic" I dislike is the posting of low resolution or even blurred images -- to me, that suggests the stamp has faults that the seller doesn't want to jeopardize a potential sale.

I spoke to the seller, he doesn't do confeds. very well.

the stamps I got were genuine, one with a fake cancel but otherwise real.
