Some exceptions apply of course, but mostly first 100 listings are free to list (9% final value fee as per usual) no matter what the starting price. Auctions only.
Will this be too little, too late, or will the holiday season get them back up on the horse again?
Will they be America's sweetheart again like the good old days? (very hard task I think)
Thanks for posting this - I got the email and then forgot to double-check it.
Honestly, there really isn't THAT much of a difference except if you're listing (and SELLING) a hundred $25+ items a month.
It's only the listing fees which have been removed, which was never the big deal - it was always the final value fees and paypal fees that hurt - and they haven't changed.
Once consequence of this is that perhaps we'll be seeing a lot more auctions that start at the price the seller is looking for rather than $0.99 since all listings (no matter of start price) are free.
Ebay, UK has been doing this every two or three weeks for some time now. I took advantage last time but did not put enough material up due to time constraints. Saved a few pounds though.
ebay will get sellers back when they start to respect sellers as much as they adore buyers. At the moment ebay and paypal operate according to a casino model: the house (buyers) always win.
Obviously the sellers have not all gone yet, but judging by the complaints that ebay is favouring the buyers to an absurd degree, the sellers will move to other auction sites.
Personally, I buy more than I sell and have not had any major problems.
