Easy question (I think) for the precancel collector. Is this a Bureau Precancel of Scott 2263?

I've not seen this one before and with all the various denominations of printed precancels for the Transportation Series, this one doesn't seem to be listed outside of a specialized precancel catalog (which I don't have).

No. No bureau name is listed. It is a intentionally blind precancel.

Thanks. I'm assuming it's a common variety, even though there is no Scott listing for it.

I Would not be so sure! There is no Bureau listing for this stamp. Bureau double line overprint are normally thinner & darker. This you can see through the lines ad are rather wide. This is not normal or common, but interesting. If possible can you measure the width of the lines then the distance between the 2 lines. This seems local in nature. It maybe be a new version of the Tucson silent precancel the only other known local involving the Transportation series.

Thanks for the additional info.

For measurement purposes, see below:

Precancel varieties often elude me, so I have to ask, what is a Tucson silent precancel?

I have a number of precancels on Transportation Series issues but all are the normal fractional (decimal) denominations where one would expect precancelling. This is the only 20c variety I have come upon.

Hand on to this one! It does not match the Tucson precancels, those lines were .5 not 1mm & 9 - 9.5mm between lines not 7. - 8mm. So this is an undocumented silent overprint it is a possibility a fake but why this issue.

Thanks for the advice. It's definitely a keeper and a curiosity, if nothing else.
