Color shift, not super uncommon for this issue or some others of the bi-color issues of this period. There is a following among some collectors of EFO's that specialize in issues such as the Pam Ams and the Beacon air mail of different varieties of color shifts.

Some of these shifts acquire informal names over time, such as the 2-cent train in the Pan-Am set. It is called a "fast train" when it is shifted toward the left frame, and a "slow train" when it is shifted right. They are cheap as used stamps, and it makes a nice little display to have a few of the shifts side by side showing a progression across the face of the stamp.

Hi,

In this case... I think it is a big shift (maybe 1.5 mm)... I cannot find another one like that. If you have some pictures of that, I will apreciate it. It is a new and not used stamp.

Thank you!

cdnum,

Here is an image of my copy that has about a 1mm shift in the opposite direction as that of yours.

Given that we both have copies with color shifts, I'd go even further than fredcdobbs ("not super uncommon for this issue") and argue that a color shift is probably fairly common with this issue.

I can't tell you, however, how significant the shift has to be before it would be categorized as an error but I don't think either of our stamps are at that point.

Steve
