I just put stuff out for sale on ebay, first time in awhile. I made a sale and now its showing as paid, but..where is my money? I think ebay no longer uses outside sources can I go to move the payment to my checking accounts for this payment?

Thanks!

As I do not know what you sold, nothing shows under your SCF listed ebay ID (cmarsha), I would direct your question(s) to ebay itself. The delay may very well be due to the fact you have not sold lately or did so under a new user ID and as such ebay will delay the moneys release process to protect itself until the item is actually delivered and not returned.

Also this, a good question, is placed in the incorrect forum.Collapse "On Line Stamp Auction Discussions" is the better thread.

ebay uk no longer makes automatic payments to your bank account - you need actively to transfer money from that held by ebay. I don't know whether this is its practice in the US.

We see the money automatically transferred over from U.S. ebay when the item shows "delivered" to buyer. We print ebay shipping labels, our user i.d. goes back to the '90s and we're "top rated" in their system, so I have no idea how those factors might affect what we see versus what you're seeing. It's not instant, though.

as I understand it (from the perspective of a US based seller), ebay sends the money where you tell it to (usually direct to a bank account). There's usually a couple day lag between ebay receiving a payment and making it available to the seller. the user has the ability to choose how frequently payouts are made (daily, weekly, etc.).

Note: the UK and US ebay ecosystems are diverging at a rapid pace. There's all sorts of discussions and complaints on reddit in various ebay subreddits.

Not only is the fee structure entirely different in the UK (no seller fees, but buyer now pays a buyer's fee... I think), but unlike U.S. ebay where money is automatically swept at certain intervals or can be swept on demand once the payment clears, in the UK, payments are held until after delivery is shown or the buyer leaves positive feedback... an absolute death knell in the stamps and sportscards categories where items are frequently sent untracked.

I think this is ebay's way of forcing sellers into using tracked methods for all shipments. Also this somewhat flies in the face of the old "feedback is optional" mantra.

I hope to [CENSORED] that none of these UK changes make it over to US ebay...

ebay UK told me that, if no proof of delivery or feedback appears, payment will be made after fourteen days. So there is a backstop. I've no idea of how to track the progress of such payments. In either case, delays to payouts presumably give a large organisation the opportunity to make gains on short-term money markets.

Well I found that ebay is still using Paypal to forward customer payments to users. Thanks to all who replied.

I am having issues with a client in NJ who keeps placing . buy it now orders then an hour later withdraws. He's done this three times, today I banned him but he's still out there. I plan to report him
if this continues.

Not Frankie Valli, I hope.

Amazed that ebay is still involved with Paypal - I thought that cord had been cut long ago.

To my ears,it sounds as if that "buyer" is protesting an immediate payment requirement recently set up by ebay, a requirement which can be overridden by the seller. It precludes the ability to ask for lots to be combined for shipping on one invoice. As a result the buyers are screwed or the seller must go to the additional trouble of asking for (an properly expecting) a refund of the shipping charge overage. In such cases ebay allows 60 minutes to pay by a different method or cancel the sale.

ebay seems to have made it much harder for BIN customers to combine orders. I specifically opted out of the instant payment requirement but I have noticed a sharp increase in customers buying multiple lots individually and I have to to shipping refunds in the last few months. (and ebay rarely combines the transactions, so it collects a 30 cent "transaction" fee that it shouldn't get too).

It's frustrating but it's part and parcel of the business. Mind you, having customers who want to buy a bunch of items is not a bad thing to have.

One other question, how do I contact a seller to notify non receipt of items? It used to be simple, now it's not. A seller in Oregon is now a week late on an order. I cannot find any way to tell him, thanks.

Go to your PURCHASES page, find the item, then select "MORE ACTIONS".

There is a "Contact Seller" option

As an alternative, from the same menu, click on 'view seller's other items' which will take you to a page with all of his/her offerings (assuming they have some). At the top of this page towards the right side, click on 'contact.'
