Amazing! I'm guessing you are really into this, then! If I may ask, what do you collect? I'm into topicals mostly, focus on British Empire. Always looking to expand, however! Its always neat to hear other collector's interests! |

So if I used the SCF search correctly, I found no posting of either the US 1893 nor 1992 Reissued of the 10 cent Columbian listed in this topic. This stamp, Scott US 237, is the first US stamp to show an actual bird, not counting the allegorical US Eagle. Here it is a "real live" bird present in the scene depicted. Additionally the 1992 Reissues were a shard design issue with Spain, Portugal and Italy. 1893- 1992 Reissues and example of the three other country issues- Close up showing the bird above the "ing" of "presenting" The color painting by Luigi Gregori made for the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana."The Reception at Court" The multi-colored bird is aground standing on the floor. Edited text: is to it. Edit for further comment: As shown in the original painting, there are colored long tail feather looking (macaw?) items sticking out of the treasure box next to the bird standing on the floor. As I cannot tell if the box macaw is alive, I will not claim it as living for this topical thread. These box feathers do show on the stamp designs. |

Hello all! Its been awhile since I posted. I actually need help with something! I have previously mentioned a "Personalized" set of birds from The Netherlands, # 1385 Scott I believe. 70+ stamps in the set. So - my question. Can these stamps fit 5 to a row in a Lighthouse basic sized stockbook? Are they tall vertically as well? See, I MAY buy these, found a good deal. However, I hate overlapping stamps. From the pics online, I can't tell there dimensions. Can anyone offer any assistance? See pic below. Thanks! |
