I have a Washington 2 Cent in Carmine. There is no perforation on left horizontal or bottom. Would upload but I can't crop and save. Other that that is matches a 251. Am thinking it must be altered as I can't find another like it.

Likely a booklet pane single from one of the corners opposite the booklet pane tab. Those corners have two adjacent straight edges.

I would like to know 100% that this stamp is a booklet single. It is on a nice cover from Fairmont ,W.Va. to New York back to Faimont a month later. Dated July 4 1899. Could be the earliest documented use.

This pic is definitely in the running for worst quality posted of 2026. If you want quality answers you need to post quality images, not out of focus, skewed cell phone pics.

The first booklet was issued April 18, 1900.
If your cancel says 1899, you're out of luck with a booklet single.

Nice auxiliary marking. I have been told that the New York post office had more than 2000 different hand stamp markings at this time.

That's the whole point. If the booklets were issued April 18 1900, then why is this booklet single on this cover ? Everything seems legitimate with the cover and contents.

It's not a booklet single, its the bottom left corner of a top right pane of 100.

I want proof that the stamp is a stamp from a sheet or proof it's from a booklet. Do you have such info. Thank you for your input. I just want to learn. Thank you.

You were just given proof. This stamp was used before the booklets were even produced.
