My understanding is that they are the same. However, the website you apparently referred to does not want to pay the owner of the Scott numbering system. So, they use their own stamp number (SN) system. That way, no one will know they, actually, are using Scott catalogue numbers.

Kira,
I'm glad you like them! You can send me any Canada's from the 90's (I'm ashamed to admit I have very few Canada stamps). Whatever you choose will be appreciated. I have found more USA's for you: 2122, 2618, 2999, 3182m, 3186 g-l,n, 3207, 3283, 3351b, 3361. Do you want any earlier or later USA's? I got bunches of 'em.

Kira,
I received my Canada stamps yesterday. You have more than tripled my Canada collection, thank you very much! I will have some time later this week to go through my piles of newer used stamps. I'll be sending you the stamps I mentioned, plus some 2000's. Are you interested in older stamps? I have many extras for you if you would like them. Let me know and I'll throw them your way!

@Jr. Ratfish
i am glad the envelope arrived safely
i updated my list of missing usa stamps down to 1962
i will work on adding the missing stamps from 2001+
note that for these newer years I listed the stamps I have instead of the large quantity I am missing as it makes for a shorter list

thank you

Hi Kira, I have extensive used dupes of the earlier Canada. Are you interested in Queen Victoria, King George V and King George VI issues?
If so, email me your mailing address. I'm happy to send you a lot of Canada.

Guessing I would have little to offer in a trade, but great to hear of those collecting US since 2000. As to the numbering, Scott's is near universal in the US for US collecting, but it might come into play trading with collectors of US from other countries.

ok I updated my missing list for canada
the canada album I was gifted really has a lot of early stamps already
as far as I can see the missing ones are the ones that are too costly to get

@Jr. Ratfish
stamps received and all processed
list updated
thank you for the great usa stamps
do you want me to send you more canada stamps?
