The German semi-postal stamp calling for protection of the environment, 2016, stressed the complex problems of the Alps region. Transport and tourism are major factors but receding glaciers and melting permafrost are already threatening many areas.  |

This is the FDC that goes with the stamp above. Capricorn, marmot and jackdaw are three of the animal species typical of alpine regions. The cancellation shows a bobcat, but they are still rare.  |
