Someone said they were avid collectors of Stamp Exhibition Cinderellas. I don't know why these were produced other than maybe advertisements. I don't think they are tickets, but one has a nice correctly dated cancel. One has a small tead and the other is kind of plain jane. Does anyone know what these were used for. And who was it that listed Stamp Exhibition Cinderellas as a collected topic? Hope someone knows more than I about these. - Jeff

I've never seen that one. londonbus has a catalogue on CD for this kind of material, I believe. You'd be surprised how many people here seem to have a soft spot for this stuff.

Read the article thanks Rod, and here I thought the numbers might identify the day of admittance or possible seating for something. Oh boy Never take for granted that someone automatically knows something, I guess. - Thanks again - Jeff

Hi Jeff

Until the early 1990's, all major and most smaller Philatelic Exhibitions in the UK offered show souvenirs to the visiting public.
These were either sold for a small fee or given away free. Many were used on cover alongside postage stamps.
The same happened in the USA,Canada,Australia and so on.

The labels or sheets produced were often a celebration of some kind even if the Exhibition was not.
What you have are labels that could be purchased in a sheet of 12 for 1/6 [7˝p]on entry to the 1960 London International. The labels celebrate the Tercentenary of the appointment of Colonel Henry Bishop as the UK's first Postmaster General.[1660-1663].
Perf 11 in Orange-Red and Black.
Two other sheets exist in Imperf and part Imperf condition.
Each label shows a different Bishop Mark which were used in the UK and overseas possessions.

Thanks everyone, does the postmarked one do anything for appeal or desirability?

I should amend my answer to say that I've never seen one detached from the full sheet...I didn't recognize it by itself.

As the postmark is clearly June 20th and the Exhibition was July 9th-16th, then the answer must surely be YES!.

Now we shall have have to do some research into who attended the Dairy Fete in Newport on that day !

Let's get to work

Londonbus1.....loves a good mystery

Oh yes, if this is not required for your collection, I'd be happy to take it off your hands by sale or exchange.
