Today is International Rabbit Day, created to promote the protection and care of rabbits both domestic and wild, and celebrated annually on the fourth Saturday or Sunday of September. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a bunny and some Chinese calligraphy, designed by Zhongyao Li, printed by photogravure, and issued by France on January 14, 2011 to commemorate the Year of the Rabbit, Scott No. 3930, Y&T No. 4531.

Goodness, I never heard of a rabbit day, but it's a lovely idea. Here one (hare) in the wild and one (rabbit) in the yard, since both hare and rabbit are members of this thread.

Year of the Rabbit: Here is an image of a stamp depicting the New Year riding in on a large rabbit, with the Old Year atop a tiger in the background, designed by Laotian artist Chamnane Prisayane, engraved by french artist Claude Jumelet (1946- ), and issued by Laos on April 14, 1975, Scott No. 263.

Mountain Hare (Lepus timidus)
The mountain hare, the shorterhaired of the two Finnish hares, is common all over the country. In the summer it is grayish brown, in the winter the entire animal, except for the black tips of its ears, turns snow-white.
