Here is an image of a stamp depicting a caged beagle, designed and engraved by Pierre Gandon, and issued by Monaco in November, 1975 as one of three stamps in a set commemorating the 125th anniversary of the passage of the Grammont Law in France outlawing cruelty against domestic animals, Scott No. 993. Sad puppy!

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a huge red dog (Kerber, or Cerberus) chained to a tree and guarding the entrance, designed by Yugoslavian painter and stamp designer Andreja Milenkovic (1923-2005) after a 5th century mosaic on the floor of the narthex of the Great Basilica at Herakleia Lynkestis, in Bitola, Macedonia, printed by photogravure (in Austria), and issued by Yugoslavia on March 16, 1970, Scott No. 1012.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a ceramic Arawak Dog figurine, dated to 550 BC, that was unearthed in an archeological dig near Grand Case, St. Martin, designed and engraved by Pierre Forget, and issued by France on February 10, 1996 to celebrate pre-Columbian Arawak culture on St. Martin, department of Guadeloupe, Scott No. 2506, Y&T No. 2988.

I once owned a Basset Hound named Flash. Its favorite postition was asleep on the couch with all four legs up in the air. My mother-in-law always thought it needed to wear fruites. (underwear)

I had two miniature dachshunds when I lived in South Africa and they look exactly like the ones on the Transkei stamp. I will see if I have any spare sets of the set over the weekend.
