I don't like the cancellations on them and these do have reproductions and some of which are quite collectable. I don't know enough about these to be of further help. I don't think the 5¢ denomination has a white border either?

I figured to good to be true, they want $349.95 for them, catalog is what 6k... I have been browsing revenues/tax stamps might buy some to make wall display. I also saw brush cancels should be blue as said in catalog. It's impossible to tell from these scans, you would need large clear scans of the bottom labels and oblique scans to see if they are embossed. |

They are for sale over there if one wants to try to get more scans, I am finished and would beg off just looking at the first one and it's border contrary to what is described in the catalog. |

Just a warning/"heads-up" - If you have reproductions and/or fakes in your collection then it will throw serious doubt to the authenticity of the rest of your collection in the unlikely event something should happen to you or if you have to sell it (God forbid!). I've seen it first hand. |

I would not want to say without examining the actual stamps, but they look genuine enough based on scans.
The early newspaper/periodicals are worth FAR LESS unused than used and that really concerns me regarding the cancels. That said, there is something in my brain that is trying to rattle around regarding these cancels, but I can't seem to load it up...if it comes to me, I'll shout. |

The stamps could be genuine, although I doubt it. Every time I see large format Newspapers with fake cancels (these are near-100%-sure fake cancels IMO), the stamps themselves almost always turn out to be forgeries too. Some of those are quite deceptive and mimic the appearance & color of the genuine issues (some are even embossed.) A high-resolution scan would help. |

I am a newspaper stamp specialist. If you are still looking for an answer, these are positively fake, the stamps as well as the postmarks. They are good ones and made circa 1880s (so they are genuinely old). PR1 had blue border, but the plate was later modified to create a PR4 which has a white border. PR4s were usually faked.
