From my worldwide block collection, I will share with the club another block that you do not see everyday. I like the "CROWN" watermark visible along the right edge.

Very interesting Linus!

I've never seen these before, but not being a collector of revenue stamps I suppose that's normal.

They're very long aren't they?

Thank you, Bobby, and yes they are long stamps. I actually found this block at a postcard show at the Johnson County fairgrounds in Iowa City, Iowa, USA. I love small town shows, where the setup fee is low, and anybody can show up to sell their stuff. There was a man there selling a large worldwide revenue collection, pages and pages of cool revenue stamps, and when I saw this block, I asked him how much? He said 5 dollars. I could not pass it up. I go to this show every year, but the man selling revenues was only there that one time.

The stamp is Barefoot #4, issued in 1870. Catalog value is 5 UKP per stamp for mint.

Thank you for that info on my block, revenuecollector. I had no idea what the relative catalogue value was, or the year of issue. The upper right stamp is scuffed, and the top row of perfs have been folded across the edge above the 38, but the entire block is mint never hinged original gum. I guess you can call it an old "survivor."

In the watermark, does the "CC" stand for Crown Colony, and is that what the full margin watermark says? Tonight I was going to post a thread about an Antigua stamp I recently purchased that shows the Crown and CC watermark along with a vertical line and a portion of a circle to the right. Talk about serendipity.

According to the Scott Catalogue: "The letters "CC" of Watermark 1 identify the paper as having been made for use of the Crown Colonies..."

I have never seen a full sheet with a similar watermark. It could say "Colonies" or "Colony" or nothing after the word "Crown," I am not sure.

A strikingly attractive block!

Excellent examples of Bobby De La Rue's namesake's printing prowess.

Thank you for sharing Linus.

Plateflaw - Thank you for the kind words.

I just found this image on a bumped thread on this forum, originally posted back in 2011. Thank you rod222! I have been looking for this watermark layout for a long time. My original post block could have been printed on similar watermarked paper as shown below. Mine is CC instead of CA, but this is very similar.
