South West Africa 1989 Namib Desert Sand Dunes
These stamps show different types of sand dunes.
Barchan dunes are crescent-shaped sand dunes that form when wind blows from one direction in a flat landscape with no vegetation.
Transverse dunes form when the main axis of a group of barchan dunes lies perpendicular to the wind direction.

Al Wathba Fossil Dunes in Abu Dhabi were created during the last ice age. Submerged sand dunes turned into sandstone formations by carbonate cementation. After subaerial exposure, wind and rain carved these lithified sand dunes into spectacular forms

France 2005 Regions of France VI
Dune of Pilat is located at the southern entrance to the Arcachon Bay, 60 km southwest of Bordeaux. It rises to 110 meters above sea level and stretches over 3 km along the Atlantic coastline. It was created 4000 years ago by a combination of strong oceanic winds, tidal currents, and the abundance of sand carried by the nearby Eyre River.

Brazil 2024 Lençóis Maranhenses Natural World Heritage Site
Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is located on the Atlantic coast, just east of the Baía de São José. The park features expansive barchanoid dune fields which formed during the late Quaternary period. Freshwater lagoons form in the valleys among the dunes during the rainy season.

Caota Sand Dunes stretch 8 km between the estuaries of the Laojie Creek and the Dajue River. The coastal dunes, up to 15 meters high, are formed by the accumulation of drifting sand layers blown by strong north-easterly wind and southern wind.

Rakaposhi (elevation 7790 m) is a peak within the Karakoram range, a 500 km long thrust belt situated near the southern edge of the Eurasian Plate. The mountain range comprises mainly Paleozoic metamorphic rocks and exhibits extensively glaciated topography.

Pamir Mountains are referred to as The Roof of the World, as they are located at a junction of prominent mountain ranges in Central Asia, namely the Tian Shan, Karakoram, Kunlun, Hindu Kush and Himalaya. Pamir Mountains were created by collision between the Eurasian plate and the north-western corner of the Indian plate since Miocene. The mountains are known for abundant snowfall and extensive glaciation.

China 2024 Yading Nature Reserve
Chanadorje Peak (elevation 5958 m) is the east mountain of the Yading Nature Reserve in the Ganzi region of western Sichuan Province. This mountainous region is at the eastern end of the Songpan-Ganzi Fold Belt, a triangular area at the eastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau, where a passive continental margin evolved into an orogenic belt due to the closure of the Paleo-Tethys ocean and the collision between the Eurasian Plate and the Indian Plate.

Armenia 2024 Sights of Armenia
Mount Khustup is located in the South Armenian accrete terranes, where the Arabian Plate collides with the edge of the Eurasian Plate. The mountain is a granitoid intrusion surrounded by Mesozoic limestone and marlstone formation.
