Austria Stamp ID Help

Looking for positive IDs for these stamps.

1. I think I've narrowed this one down to be an Austrian Postage Due and given the cancellation date, I think it would have to be a Scott #J4.



2. This second one may be a bit trickier, as I'm not sure how to tell if it's the coarse or fine print variety. I know it's not well centered and has a missing perf on the lower right side, but it is mint, O.G., very lightly hinged.



Can anyone give me the current catalog value of these items?

The 2nd issue shown is Austrian office in Turkey, Scott #1.

The 2009 Scott CV for an unused OG Austrian Offices in the Turkish Empire #1 (2 sld orange) was $1.75 and the 1a (2sld yellow) was $70. Both were "coarse print" and perf 9.5. The 2sld stamp was printed again using "fine print" in 1883 (yellow, perf 9, 9.5, 10.5 and compound) and had a 2009 CV of $.45. The catalog notes that the two can be distinguished by the coarse or fine lines of the hair and whiskers and by the paper, which is supposed to be more transparent on the later issue.

As for the postage due, I think you're correct in calling it a J4, the 2009 CV of which was $.90. Again, the catalog notes that values provided for the J1-9 are for stamps that don't show the watermark (91) and that stamps showing the watermark often sell for more.

Thanks. As for the postage due, I think J4 is correct (unwatermarked). Since the date shown on the cancellation of my stamp is before the watermarked variety was issued, it seems a given that it wouldn't be the watermarked variety.

I'm convinced that the "Austrian Offices in the Turkish Empire" stamp is more yellow in color (rather than orange). It does have a smooth (almost shiny) appearance and feel to it. Without a comparable stamp to compare it to, I have to think it's probably the 1883 fine print variety. (It is a 9.5 perf all around.)
