Canada Post issued 5 new Beneficial Insect definitives today (Oct 19/10) in individual panes of 50 and a souvenir sheet of 5 (face values of 4c, 6c, 7c, 8c, and 9c). The panes of 50 have a very white transparent (i.e. colourless) gum while the souvenir sheet of 5 has the customary blue-green gum seen on Coated Papers Ltd. paper. Thus, two varieties of each value in mint condition can be collected. We'll have to do a test on used specimens to see if they can be told apart.

I repeat - for all concerned - my traditional rant. When is Canada Post gonna release a series on Annoying Insects. Those gnats, black flies, horse and deer flies, mosquitos and no seeums that drive us as crazy as they have the old voyageurs who opened up this country. |

A bug has already been reported, by Canada Post (!), on this new group of bug stamps. Canada Post's Facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/group.php?g...1112&v=wall) reports that the 6c value (in their report they say "9c", but it is actually the 6c value) has an incorrect printer designation in all four inscriptions. The printer of these stamps is Canadian Bank Note, but the 6c value says "Lowe Martin" (which is actually spelled as "Lowe-Martin"). These insect stamps are turning out to be a great series. |

It is then a "constant variety" like the backwards lighthouse - and of no significant value. Yes? |

The Facebook page also says:
"The error will be corrected on a future reprint once current supplies are exhausted—and collectors will be informed when the reprint occurs."

Look at the 6c stamp - the bottom of the 6 is covered quite a bit like the 3c, 5c and 10c of the original release. I wonder if the black covering will be bottom will be reduced on reprints like the above three values... odd that it was printed that way...
Also, turn the 6c upside down - it could easily pass as a 9c stamp!

@Studystamps
They say it's the 9c in the english version of the report, but it's correctly reported on the french version(6c) |

I love that little assassin bug on the selvedge. Must go get some soon. Stamps that is. That ebay listing is sunny in a strange way. From Peru he is. He is making up a whole new to look at stamps. And sell them. |

Another Canadian stamp issue with a "mistake/error/mis-print/variety or whatever. Is there a problem with printers who can't get it right? Is it a case of Canada Post just wanting to sell more stamps to collectors? Is there a conspiracy to release a mistake every so often just to start a rush to buy more stamps? Am I paranoid? I you don't hear from me again, you will know the truth.........it's out there. |
