Hello Gord,
yes, a classic stamp.
Note the steam train on the viaduct in the background.

Engraved and recess waterlow and sons.
1913 1c yellow-orange (variety inperf between horiz pair)

My opinion your stamps are minimal value
no extra block of four in that condition.

There are two printings of these stamps
a "london" printing, and a "Peking" printing
engraver William A Grant
identified by the top left value tablet
the Peking printing is concave on top.

hope that helps

PS I cannot discern what printing yours are,
because the scan is poor.

London printing
rudder=3 lines
top curve thin short vertical lines

Peking printing
rudder=blob
top curve long thick lines

You may wish to download both these images
and using the wheel mouse toggle between the two images.

You think I am going to sign up aboard with
that lot of Ne'er do wells"?

More like the "Red Dwarf" I'll wager.

I'll stay with feet on Terra Firma and watch you
lot navigate the heavens.

That's it Gord, a good attitude to maintain.

More details follow Rod's great illustrate, looks Gord's example is second Peking Printing, which no vertical lines under the top curve, issued in 1923.
