Guyana 1992 issue MS , SG-3338 The MS Shows temple festival in Kerala (south India), but it is written as "Elephants of maharajah or Benares ". Benares is a town in North India. These mistakes happen when countries issue stamps , just for the sake of issueing.. |

India 2011 issue elephant used (11-11-11) on registered envelope sent to Libya , returned to sender as "SERVICE SUSPENDED". If you are a thematic collector , try posting one mail to Libya, you can get a "SERVICE SUSPENDED" stamped envelope to your collection.. (i am not sure how much worth it is, but I like it) |

This is not a stamp of elephant, but an elephant made of stamps.. see "Baby Emily" of singapore philatelic museum . "Baby Emily", an elephant made of postage stamp designed by local sculptor and artist Mr. Sun Yu-Li. This was in conjunction with the Elephant Parade held in Singapore last year to raise awareness and funds for the dwindling elephant population. 161 elephants were auctioned and the proceeds donated the Asian Elephant Foundation. The makers says :"In this immense and at times lonely planet, man is fortunate to have living creatures like animals and plants to accompany us. The elephant is one such special example. Like us, elephants can see, hear, smell, taste and feel. They are truly magical animals. We use postage stamps to dress up Baby Emily because postage stamps have helped man to communicate for centuries. I use dots and lines as basic elements and a set of universal grammar as string rules to produce a resplendent web that envelops Baby Emily: a coat that protects Baby Emily and also represents our hope of spreading the message of caring for the elephants, far and wide to all corners of the world." see: http://www.spm.org.sg/exhibition/el...tampede.html |
