I took a look at my Paleontology stamp album and I was surprised that there are more than 60 different stamps show prehistoric elephants in addition to several postmarks, covers and FDC's. Since I don't want to turn this thread to paleontology thread, I will not post all stamps and items. Hence I chose five stamps from them I think are the most attractive. Here they are: The first stamp in the world depicts prehistoric animal was issued by India on January 13, 1951 shows Stegodon ganesa. It was issued to commemorate the centenary of the geological survey of India: Mammoth, designed and engraved by Naszarkowsky and issued by Sweden on October 3, 1992: Woolly Mammoth, designed by Rolf Harder and isued by Canada on September 26, 1994: Woolly Mammoth, issued by the USA on August 6, 1996: Mammoth, issued by Yemen on November 27, 1990: |
