Thanks everyone I hope you can all recognise the ears on the Bulgarian Elephant issue, as being an Indian Elephant |

One more to add ... (no, I don't own one) Liberia 62a, inverted elephant, 1905. Cat $1200 I am shocked at how undervalued this stamp is. There was only one sheet of 60 ever to be found and Bileski was the one who broke it apart into 56 singles, and one block of 4. This is the only multiple in existence. |

Depends which colour was printed first, maybe the frame is upside down.
Great examples Rileysan, never seen this pachyderm before, it's beautiful. I have a small growing collection of Liberia and have to agree, not popular and prices are very acceptable. The designs on the early Liberia are crackers! |

Pachyderm (thick skinned) a way to link the beautiful warthog to the elephant. You don't have to be a pachyderm on SCF because everyone here is nice. Placing pedant hat on: I still maintain, whatever was printed first on the Liberian sheet, when the second colour passed through the press, (the vignette or the frame) that was the one that was inverted. |

I'm not entirely sure what that means, but I'll take it as a positive thing. And I must agree ... early Liberia looks great and are very affordable. If you're bored sometime, try locating this set in mint (#54-63). It's extremely difficult to find! Brian |

Yep, cracker = a fantastic example.
Brian, my Liberia collection begins at SG226 (1906) so yes, some early ones are to be sought by me.

Not a stamp, but a cinderella (Rhodesia's version of a Christmas Seal, I presume) ... with an elephant on it ... from 1961: |
