I also collect used only and really enjoy going through a bunch of on paper kiloware. Would someone explain why these stamps are called 'machins'? They are only a small part of my GB/UK collection and I've never bothered to find out. |

Quote: Would someone explain why these stamps are called 'machins'? Arnold Machin is the designer responsible for the effigy of QEII used on these stamps (as well as coinage of the Realm for a long period of time) |

I have around 2000 machins ready to be sorted. The fun time has not begun yet but I expect to sort them out soon. I am looking to complete the basic part only. |

Hello indieguy:Quote: I am looking to complete the basic part only. almost three years for me trying to complete a basic level, the most difficult are do not give up to temptation to buy mint Machins of difficult gaps (16½p, 17½p, 23p green, 37p black, etc) or who know a good decision about fill the very difficult (10p narrow, 25p rose, 26p narrow) anyway if any player need fill few gaps let me know. Thank you Fm |

Novato, I agree that there are some used Machins that are more difficult to find but if you keep looking you periodically find one or more of the missing stamps. The hunt for these elusive stamps is what makes collecting Machins fun for me. |

It is very agreeable to find many collectors of this type of stamps. I like very much these stamps, all full of color and history. I also have them classified .... in boxes!. Perhaps for 2050 be able to put them in my album Regards David |

I like that nice light blue background in behind the black around the stamps. What is that? How is that done?

It`s a program on my linux system called ImageMagick. After the scans have been cropped it lets me set the spacing between stamps and choose a background colour and add a shadow if I want it. |

Novato talked about "sideways" collections. Here`s one I started a while back...S.O.N. cancels with the town name centred(almost) on the stamp. |

Just when I thought that the Machins topic had ended, it has just gotten deeper and hotter. The story of Wedgewood. |

Nice booklet of stamps to own. This is the home of the 1/2p side band. If your 1/2p stamps have good perforations then they are worth up to 20 pound per stamp. Also home of the 2 1/2p left band... |

Sell! sell! sell for the amount you were offered! I think around 12 to 20 pounds would be more like it in the condition you mention.
(edit....for the whole booklet I mean) |
