Scott 505,506, 508-511 all had dates as part of the designs therefore no hidden date as far as I can see. BC, have you spotted any on those listed above? CANADA 1970

Scott 515 I have always liked this stamp and I don't really know why. Perhaps because it's so different from other Canadian designs, maybe the colour combination. Or it could be Louis Riel himself since I find him one of the most interesting and tragic figures in Canadian history. |

Yes it's a great story Rod, Hollywood should have made a movie about Louis Riel. Actually he was portrayed as a semi-mad villain in the 1940 film North West Mounted Police with Gary Cooper. I saw that flick in the early fifties in one of the theaters where they showed 4 old movies (mostly Westerns and Abbot&Costello) for 50c. Anyway that's the first time I heard mention of him until high school history when the teacher touched on him and the Rebellion briefly. English Canadians considered him a traitor and French Canadians believed him to be a hero. I personally think he was a heroic Canadian. He believed in what he fought for, fought for his people and died for it. |

Scott 518Group of Seven, first Canadian stamp printed by Ashton Potter Ltd, no date Scott 519 - 530 The twelve Christmas stamps for this year all had a small 1970 in the design, therefore no HD. For example as on this strip of 5 X 5c. |

Scott 531 Very small and faint but the date 1970 is there. Trust me. |

For some unexplained reason there were no Hidden Dates on stamps for the years 1971, 1972 and 1973.They reappeared again in January 1974 on stamps of the ongoing Canadian Indian series, this time preceded by the international © copyright symbol. CANADA 1974

I noticed that too Litho, the missing years of the early 70's. If I recall correctly, there are a few others with no hidden dates afterwards. The 1974 UPU is one I know of. |
