That flag with blue stripes on each side and the wacky tree branch-like trio of maple leafs is not very easy on the eyes. I, too, agree, they made a nice choice. You can find the history of the flag adoption in this link: http://canadianaflags.tripod.com/ca...roposals.htmSeems the blue stripes but resurrect itself to apease the Quebecois. Doesn't look too bad mixed with the red. Is there any special reason why Canada never advertised the designer on the lower part of the stamps like other countries? Edit: I just tried to look at the stamp Anthony posted in my album and it just amazed me how big the scan can get and how crappy my magnifiying glass is. I can't see anything with it and even felt dizzy after trying hahah |

You got it Anthony, that's the date. I'm not sure of the number though. Stamp was issued in October 1966 but to me it looks like 196 5 Possibly it was engraved earlier and not used until 1966. Some of these dates in the later sixties are so small that they are almost impossible to find but the search continues. Scott 451 - 452 |

Scott 448 The 1966 is barely visible and hard to locate. |

CANADA 1968
Scott 478Canada's first multicolour offset/litho stamp issued Feb 1968. The first totally non engraved stamp was the 1965 Churchill printed by a process called duo-tone lithography in one colour. It was one ugly stamp and a disgrace that Canada Post would experiment with printing techniques on a stamp honouring Churchill, he deserved better. |

Andrew, perhaps this one from the link you provided would have been better since it included a green Maple Leaf, green representing vibrant growth instead of a red one which is at the end of the growth cycle before they fall off the tree. Quote:
