This just in (film at 11; half hour earlier in Newfoundland). Detroit television reported yesterday that a dog saved the life of a 92-year old woman. The breed of dog that did this is a member of the Newfoundland breed. This breed is immortalized on the stamps of Newfoundland (see Newfoundland Scott#58 below). There have been innumerable stories over the centuries that pertain to the valour of this dog. In addition to its many acts of bravery this huge, black, cow-eyed dog loves kids and will do anything to protect them.
