In celebration of Lincoln's very merry un-birthday:
Free to the third person who gives me the name of Lincoln's girlfriend before he married Mary Todd: Scott# 367 Year 1909 Denomination 2˘
It's hinged and has a straight edge, but I have too many of them!
It's going to Stamperdude and Yukoncat! |

I'm no expert, but I searched the internet for some of the products shown in the ad and came up with McLaughlin's Manor House Coffee (although the ad below advertises "instant" coffee). It dates to 1953. That should be about the right date given the phone number of the grocer as "Bittersweet 8444", which was used around the same time period. |

I guess I was way off on the date.
On another issue, I was interested to see the date spread between the original postmark of February 10, 1938, and the date the "Return to Writer: Unclaimed" request was invoked on February 18, 1938. Is it (or was it) common to take that long before a mailing piece would be returned to sender? |

Now come on, I knew it was Ann Rutledge. How am I going to add that to my collection when I have to spend all my time at work, the hospital, and home trying to sleep inbetween? lol!
Mary Todd was also courted by Frederick Douglas, Lincoln's famed opposing debator. |

Stamperdude and Yukoncat:
You both gave the correct answer. I have a few of these around and can give both of you one of the extras. Not a bad stamp!
Email me your address and I will drop one in the mail for you!

Thanks! I would be tarred and feathered and ran out of town on a rail if I didn't know that. I am from the Land of Lincoln after all. |

Nice to see you showing off one of the goodies I sent to you Philb. I have several more of these if anyone is interested.
By the way, Cecil M. Kruse is my Great Uncle.
