USPS Issues Corinthian Capital Stamped Card - May 12
2008 May 12

On May 12, 2008, in Washington, DC, the Postal Service™ will issue a 27-cent, Corinthian Capital definitive stamped card. The card, designed by Gerald Gallo of Bethesda, Maryland, goes on sale nationwide May 12, 2008.

This stamped card features an ink-and-watercolor drawing of a Corinthian capital. The drawing — which was created in 1854, by Thomas Ustick Walter, during the enlargement of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, DC — is from the records of The Architect of the Capitol.

The Corinthian Capital stamped card will be available in the following formats:
  • Item 222400, Single-Cut Cards.

  • Item 222500, Double-Cut Reply Cards.

  • Item 222600, Sheet of 40 Cards.

  • Item 222700, Five-Card Banded Vending.

- Quoted from (and more information can be found in) Stamp Announcement 08-14: Corinthian Capital.

They are used mostly for fast short messages. They cost less than sending than an envelope. There is no set rule that I know of on how to use them.

I get about 6 of these a month from the eye doctor reminding me of an appointment to the PTA or booster clubs all about meeting dates.
